homemade stuff sacks

In preparation for the HRP, I’ve made some stuff sacks. I didn’t go all high tech with the fabric – mostly because my budget was small. I went to the fabric store and bought some simple nylon fabric for EUR 2 per meter (I bought 3 meters). I didn’t have a selection of colors to pick from – it would have been nice – all they had was white. White fabric is not exactly ideal for a 6-week trek in the high mountains. Whether or not the sacks stand up to the elements and daily use – we’ll see, but I hope so!

Yesterday, Jonathan came over and I gave him a lesson in Sewing 101. He mastered the machine pretty quickly and soon had his own collection of pretty awesome stuff sacks for his own gear.

While he was sewing I worked on the maps, tracing the trail and finding resupply points. There’s still so much to prepare before leaving.
